Mountain Bike Racing is one of the sport activities that more has been growing in Portugal lately. In a way to answer to this exponential growth of bikers and their needs, several cross country and downhill events are regularly staged all over the Country.
However, and similarly to what happens overseas, we are aware of the inexistence of a mega Cross-Country event that could enhance the spirit of adventure and competition indexed to Mountain Biking but also promote Portugal abroad within a specific target group.This way, and based on the philosophy of promoters João Lagos Sports, X-QUEST was developed on the company’s experience of staging premium sports events in Portugal with high standards of organization and international recognition.
The Race will take place with a total of 7 stages and will be characterized by both the personal challenge and team challenge, adventure spirit. During the 7 days of competition, the route will include paths through countless Portuguese historical and cultural attractions, such as Roman bridges and stone-ways, castles, ancient villages, protected areas for wildlife and parks and areas of indescribable beauty and interest. This way, unique and fascinating moments along the beautiful Portugal landscape will be experienced by the contestants.
Allied to this historical and cultural part of peerless beauty, routes will require a high challenge level, with ascents to mythical points, passages for quick plane rails of less physical demand, radical descents and areas of high technical skills, allowing each biker to fuel his competitive spirit. The race is open to amateurs and professionals.
The Race will have plenty of attractions that, besides the experience that they will provide to the participating teams, will also allow pictures that, due to their beauty, will be spread thoroughly all over the world. Forming an alliance between the natural and historical beauty of Portugal and an event of great competition and personal challenge, the X-QUEST intends to become one of the most important national sporting events and one of the biggest international events in its area.
